United Patients was founded in 1993 to provide affordable healthcare and lifestyle-enhancing services to a sector of the market that was totally uncatered for.
Private Medical Insurance was always prohibitively expensive and only available to the minority of the population – usually provided through employee benefit schemes. In addition, most healthcare providers offered little, if anything at all, to clients who were healthy and never made a claim against their policy.
United Patients wanted to offer value for money to everyone, including those who did not fall ill and those who did not have an accident. Most healthcare schemes only exist to benefit those who actually go into hospital and even then, it is usually the hospital professionals that actually benefit from payment, rather than the policyholder.
United Patients consulted the public and found that one of the biggest reasons why people did not have healthcare was that it was expensive, especially since most people believe they are healthy and well; the ‘It will never happen to me’ syndrome!
Unlike private medical insurance, United Patients will pay you for each complete day that you are in hospital. United Patients do not pay for the cost of treatment or consultations.
